Kick-Off Meeting

Kick-Off Meeting

The PolyChrome Berlin Kick-Off Meeting, which was held in preparation for the Working In Photonics event on Oct. 26th at HHI.

Together with our industrial partners: ADVAAllresist, Chembio,  Toptica , eagleyard Ficontecmicro resist technologyAms Osram, ScienionVPI photonics and our academic partners Fraunhofer HHI, Fraunhofer IZI-BB und LZH, we discussed the main topics of the joint project:

  1. Material technology for integrated photonic circuits and microfluidics.
  2. Functional components, chip and packaging technology for PICs
  3. Optical fiber as sensor
  4. Integrated laser sources for VIS to NIR range
  5. SiN-based photonic sensor chips

Further Information about our project PolyChrome Berlin you can find on our website and at the homepage of Fraunhofer HHI.

Impressions of the event Working In Photonics

The association PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. is pleased about the numerous registrations and the successful event last week at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute.

The event for securing skilled workers and promoting young talent “Working in Photonics” was a complete success. Around 50 participants used the platform to establish contacts between young professionals such as microtechnologists and students and the universities, research institutes and companies in the region and surrounding area and got an impression of the potential and versatility of photonics. Photonics in the Berlin university landscape was presented very comprehensively to the interested audience by Prof. Dr. Maurizio Burla (Technical University of Berlin) and Prof. Dr. Ingeborg Beckers (Berlin University of Applied Sciences). Representatives of partner companies from the region and beyond presented themselves and the opportunities for entering the world of photonics. The Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute provided a practical insight into the various jobs available, ranging from students to microtechnologists and technical staff to scientific employees working towards a doctorate. The event was rounded off with presentations on the application fields of photonics such as telecommunications, analytics and quantum technology as well as with a laboratory tour. Special thanks go to the organizers from Fraunhofer HHI, the partners from the PolyChrome-Berlin consortium as well as PolyPhotonics-Berlin e.V..

We hope to welcome a broad spectrum of interested parties again soon.
