PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. attended OPIE 2026 in Yokohama, engaging with international stakeholders from research and industry and gaining insights into current developments in photonics.

The event provided a broad overview of technological trends in areas such as optical components, laser applications, and photonic integration. In particular, it highlighted the strong connection between research, industrial application, and manufacturing, as well as a focus on high-precision and efficient solutions.

Our main focus was on professional exchange—both with existing partners and with new contacts within the Asian photonics ecosystem. The discussions and impressions gathered on site will contribute to future collaborations and activities in Berlin.

At this year’s OFC in Los Angeles last month, PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. participated in discussions with international stakeholders from research and industry and followed current developments in optical communication.

The conference highlighted the ongoing shift toward AI-driven infrastructures, energy-efficient systems, and integrated photonic technologies. A clear trend was the move from individual components toward more complex, scalable system-level solutions.

Berlin, October 8–9, 2025 – Photonics Days 2025 was a resounding success, providing an exciting platform for exchange and presentation of the latest innovations in the photonics industry. PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. was there again, contributing to the event with a series of workshops and its own exhibition.

 

Innovative workshops – knowledge transfer at the highest level

One highlight of the event was the interactive workshops offered by PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. The workshops covered a broad spectrum – from the basics of photonics to specialized topics such as the integration of photonics in industry to the latest research trends and technological developments. Particularly impressive was the practical approach of the events, which enabled participants to delve deeply into the subject matter and learn directly from experts from research and industry.

The workshops were not only well received by experts, but also attracted numerous young talents who showed interest in furthering their education in this innovative and promising sector.

 

Exhibition – A glimpse into the future of photonics

In addition to the workshops, PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. also presented innovative projects and research work in its exhibition. Several stands showcased groundbreaking developments and applications of photonics from various fields. Düsseldorf, November 17–20, 2025—Last year, PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. was once again represented at MEDICA 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for medical technology, with an exciting program. The association presented innovative photonics-based solutions that have the potential to revolutionize the medical and healthcare industry. With an impressive exhibition and high-caliber workshops, PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. offered trade visitors deep insights into the latest developments and trends in medical photonics.

 

Workshops – Expertise and interactive insights into medical photonics

 

A special highlight of MEDICA 2025 were the specialized workshops offered by PolyPhotonics Berlin e.V. In these practice-oriented events, participants not only gained valuable insights into the theory of photonics, but also into its applications in medical technology. Topics such as laser therapy, optical diagnostics, and imaging techniques were on the agenda. Partner Update: New product release from Optagon Photonics

NEDA LD4H16T optical module and PIC controller is now available on the market

Our partner Optagon Photonics released a new product, NEDA LD4H16T, a 20-channel optical module and PIC controller. It offers high accuracy and stability, arbitrary waveform generation up to 2 MSPS for fast PIC reconfigurability, and thermal regulation via an embedded TEC controller. The system is operated through a modern, intuitive GUI, while a Python API allows custom script development.
